Bonus Episode: Alvin And The Chipmunks Cookie Chomper The Third (1989)

Hey Everyone, Angela Bowen here, the host of Looking Back On My Wonder Years: A Wonder Years Podcast. Today, I covered a very rare episode of Alvin and the Chipmunks. It's a very heavy hearted episode that shows the boys Alvin, Simon and Theodore coping with the unexpected loss of a pet. In this episode the melodramatic episode which the Chipmunks' very first adopted kitten gets killed in a traffic accident, and Dave sympathizes with the Chipmunks noticing they are heavily depressed due to the loss. I thought this episode did an amazing job at showing young kids that it's ok to grieve the loss of a pet and showed how the three boy's dealt with the loss in different stages, Denial (Theodore), Anger (Alvin) and Depression(Simon). Dave tells the boys it's healthy to talk about how they're feeling and sharing in their grief and also being ok to laugh at the memories and good times they had with Cookie Chomper the Third. This episode also shows how in time the family is able to accept a new furry family member into their lives again. I enjoyed this episode and even teared up as well.
