He became a member of the Bonneville 2 Club in 1985. But 200+ MPH was not enough. He had a desire to go fast & I mean really fast. Tom & his dad (The Legendry Gene Burkland) engineered & built a streamliner that would earn Tom the elusive black 400 MPH Chapter hat & the bragging rights of being the fastest piston driven car for 14 years. Tom is not only known for going fast, he plays a huge role in advising other teams. Tom’s guidance on aerodynamics, wing structure and other engineering stuff is coveted by others in their quest for speed.
