Bonus: Farm Skills Training with Merrymeeting Food Council

Merrymeeting Food Council reached out to me to ask if we could help to get the word out about their Farm Skills Program, because the deadline to apply for the next cohort is this Saturday, February 1. If you miss this cohort, they will still take applications for the next. Maine has set a BIG goal of eliminating food insecurity by 2030 (FIVE YEARS), and their plan includes growing more locally.Have you thought about farming at all, or gardening large scale? This is an incredible opportunity in my home state of Maine, and I'm going to be looking into where else this might be an option, because we need more farmers - we're losing them at an alarming rate, and with education from organizations like Merrymeeting Food Council, people can be set up for success! Please look into whether you have something like a Farm Skills Program near you, or take a Master Gardener Class, check out gardening books or classes, or volunteer at a farm near you for experience - knowing where our food comes from is becoming more important every day.
