Wereldwijd zijn hart- en vaatziekten doodsoorzaak nummer één bij vrouwen. Ook in Nederland en België overlijden dagelijks meer vrouwen dan mannen aan hartfalen. Toch is er nog altijd een achterstand in wetenschappelijk onderzoek rond vrouwelijke hartpatiënten. Hester en haar team van het UMC Utrecht proberen hier een inhaalslag in te maken.
