Hello Roy here. I just wanted to let you know that you can listen to the Roy Green Show ad-free on Amazon music included with Prime Remembrance Day tomorrow at Anne Castor Meadows Elementary School in Hamilton teacher Michael O'Squiato will have a very special day. He has for many years organized a full day of activities for all the students each November the 11th to understand and commemorate Remembrance Day and Canada's military veterans. Mike has for years on the 11th of November been my guest to speak about the ceremonies and activities of the school often with students on the phone with him and this is teacher Michael O'Squiato's last Remembrance Day at the school.

He retires in June. Michael how are you? Roy thanks again. It's an honor to be on your show.

It's always an honor to speak with you. How long have you been doing this? Well 15 years at Anne Castor Meadows a number of years at Janet Lee one year at Queen's Rangers and a couple of years at Mount Hope School. It's so important.

Do you remember why you started it? You know what I do because you know being a history teacher and growing up and there were some veterans on my street went across the street. What they went through. One was in the Canadian Army and he spoke about traveling through Europe and what he saw.

It's always important to understand that everything we see in this country everything we do came at a price. Now we've talked about this before but I have to ask you because it's so significant. How responsive have students been to what you've done. How responsive have their parents been to what you've done commemorating Remembrance Day.

I will have a packed gym tomorrow with parents some parents know what Mr. Loschiavels remember today's service and come back to see it. I have a fortune or fortunate to have many of these children I taught before have been to the assemblies. You'll be able to hear a pin drop tomorrow with the assembly.

A number have volunteered to do readings tomorrow. Sanders Fields the fall in high flight. They all know the significance of this. You walk into my room.

You'll see a picture of a ghost of Emi Ridge. You'll see a picture of him last year from D-Day of the veteran saluting. You'll see all aspects of Remembrance in my classroom. I keep it on the bulletin boards.

You'll even see a poster of the dambusters. I talk about that. You're the template for educators in this country for Remembrance Day. You know that.

Well, I hope so. Well, you should be. What describe the program tomorrow's program? What are the grade fours to rate?

Well, I will do the land acknowledgement statement first and I'll do my speech while I remember and I'll do my thank you. And my last part of my speech is very significant. So I'll read it to you. Okay.

So today November 11, 2019, we solemnly remember the sacrifices of those Canadians who laid down their lives for our freedom. Lastly, as I stand here today before you for my final service of Remembrance at NCASRA Middle School. Listen to these words from the Prophet Makai. We all seek the day when swords will be turned into plowshares, spears into pruning hooks.

Nations shall not lift up against nation. Neither shall they learn or any more. Thank you, I'll put the cross here tomorrow with a wreath. But there's a picture right under the TV of a man sitting in a wheelchair, a walker, washing the lank warmup at the Canadian Workplane Heritage Museum.

We have to remind people that there are two Lancaster's thanks still flying. I help out. I'm a volunteer at the Canadian Workplane Heritage Museum. I'll do that Saturday's.

And I do volunteer work there and proud to say in the summer I volunteer the tour guide on the HNC at Fida. Oh, fantastic. Which is in the harbor in Hamilton. So the Lancaster bomber is at Hamilton Airport.

That's one. And there's one other in England. There's only two that are left. Only two flying.

Of all the flying of the many thousands that were on operational missions in World War II. Amazing. Have you been up at it? Not yet.

I'm next on the list for a complimentary plate full. Keep my fingers crossed. Can I come with you? You sure can, but the other one I like to go into is the cancel.

The cancel is quite beautiful. With the glass blister. That's the plane that you fly over the lake. That's the one to take a flight in.

I ain't flying over a lake in nothing that's got a glass bottom. It's not going to happen. It's not going to happen, Michael. Not a chance.

Look, you are just a remarkable man. I suggested on a tweet to your vice principal who recognizes your service. This morning on Twitter, I thought that was great. I suggested that this is your last year of teaching, but it shouldn't be your last year of being at the school in November 11th.

I suggested they invite you back for remembrance. Being honored to go back. You know, Roy, if my last year, I'll miss my co-workers. I'll miss the co-workers.

I'll miss the parents. Sometimes you just make a degree. But most of them are. I'll miss the kids.

Thank you, Michael. We'll see you all for being who you are. Thanks, Roy. Talk to you soon.

I'll talk to you soon. Alright, bye. Bye. What a man.

I'm Roy Green. Have a great weekend.
