BonusPLAY! UBN Podcast PILOT - Destiny, Evolve, Valentine's Day

The United Broadcasting Network (UBN) has been forged from the collaboration between the GeekyAntics Network, The Worst Radio Show Podcast, and The Spartan Show. Our goal is to level the playing field on Twitch.TV so that non-partnered channels and smaller brands with unique, engaging content have a chance to reach a wider audience. In the pilot episode of the official UBN Podcast, we discuss what our vision is and how we feel we can off-set the lack of tools and support currently available on Twitch. We also talk video games with the disappointing release of [D]Evolve at the top of the list. Other disappointments include Watch Dogs and Destiny. Where did Turtle Rock go wrong and why is there such a huge divide between huge media outlets and what the user reviews on MetaCritic have to say? Evolve critic scores vary but there are many in the 90-100 range, where the user reviews hover around 40-50. We'd say the true score is around 70% on a traditional percentage scale. The reason this game falls short is lack of content and excessive day one DLC, which still does not create a complete experience even after investing $80 or more in the game. Evolve shines when you play with friends but it is just too terrible as a solo experience. Our final conclusion: skip this one until it hits the bargain bin. Play Primal Carnage, Natural Selection, or Left 4 Dead 2 instead. What were our plans for Valentine's Day? Mike from The Spartan Show and Kevin from The Worst Radio Show set the bar high. The worst offenders, of course, are games that have the content on-disc but charge us to unlock it. DLC is not a bad thing but are they abusing the system? Is this fair to consumers?
