DOOM. On today's podcast, I discuss the July 2023 book "DOOM GUY: Life in First Person" by John Romero. Romero is a member of the id Software video game team that created the multi-million-dollar Doom, Wolfenstein 3-D, and Quake franchises. Romero writes about how his early childhood impacted his workplace skills, his first jobs at Origin and Softdisk, the halcyon days of id and the subsequent breakup following the development of Quake, as well as his time helming Ion Storm.
