Zeezrom believes the words of Alma and Amulek and asks the people to spare them but the people of Ammonihah took them to the lawyers and judges and they were cast into prison and chained up. Before they were chained up, they were forced to witness the burning by fire the women and children of the men who believed the words of Alma and Almulek and who had been cast out. Alma and Amulek were persecuted but on one day their bands were loosed and they escaped whilst the prison collapsed and killed those smiting them. Alma and Amulek left the city and went to Sidon where many were baptised. Amulek lost everything and was disowned of his father and his kindred so Alma took him back to Zarahemla with him to care for him.
