Book of Alma Chapter Twelve. Book of Mormon 1830 First Edition.

from Green Eyes Yolanda · host Yolanda Tranquille Geer

An account of Ammon a son of King Mosiah on his missionary work. He went to the land of Ishmael, a land of the Lamanites and was bound and taken before king Lamoni. Ammon was wise with his words and pleased the king and became a servant of the king. He was to watch over the kings sheep with the other servants. There were lamanites scattering the sheep, trying to steal them. The servants were fearful as other servants were put to death for losing sheep. Ammon saw opportunity to show the power of God and he slew some of the lamanites with stones and chopped arms off those trying to kill him. The sheep were protected and the servants told king Lamoni what had happened. The king was afraid that Ammon was The Great Spirit. Ammon was able to speak to the king and tell him many things from the Beginning and the king believed and fell into a sleep which he stayed in for 3 days. The people said he was dead, the queen didn't think he was dead, she asked Ammon what he thought and Ammon said the king would wake up the 3rd day. The king was converted and wanted Ammon to travel with him but Ammon had been told by the Spirit that his brethren were in prison, so he went to Middoni to rescue them. The king said he would go with him. As they travelled, they came across the kings father, who was displeased to see his son with a Nephite and wanted Ammon dead. Ammon protected himself and king Lamoni and found favour with the father by not killing him, and by asking that king Lamoni retain his kingdom. Ammon goes on the Middoni and his brethren are released due to the influence of king Lamoni.
