Book of Helaman Chapter One. Book of Mormon 1830 First Edition.

from Green Eyes Yolanda · host Yolanda Tranquille Geer

Pahoran the chief judge had died and three of his sons contended to take his place. His son Pahoran was chosen but the brother Paanchi was angry as he wanted to be the governor and caused a rebellion for which he was tried and sentenced to death. Those who wanted Paanchi to be the governor were angry and sent a man called Kishkumen to murder Pahoran which he did in disguise so noone knew who had killed Pahoran. Kishkumen had his band covenant with him and they lived among the people without being known but used signs to communicate with each other. Pacumeni became the chief judge instead but fled when the lamanites came to battle and Helaman son of Helaman became chief judge instead and Kishkumen was going to kill him too but a servant of his discovered the secret signs and pretended to be one of the band and killed Kishkumen before he could kill Helaman. Because of the distraction in the government, it was not noticed that the Lamanites were on their way to attack under the leader Coriantumr. The lamanites marched straight into the centre of Zarahemla and slew everyone who resisted them and took over the city then marched to Bountiful to take that over but as soon as Moronihah alerted, he sent Lehi to head an army to stop the Lamanites and he was successful and Coriantumr was killed and the Lamanites surrounded and taken prisoner. Gadianton became leader of the band of Kishkumen.
