Book of Mosiah Chapter Nine Book of Mormon 1830 First Edition

from Green Eyes Yolanda · host Yolanda Tranquille Geer

Abinadi is put to death by fire, the priests of King Noah flee into the wilderness along with wicked King Noah. King Noah escaped being put to death by Gideon because the Lamanites were upon them, but the priests of King Noah put King Noah to death by fire as he would not let them return for their wives and children. King Noah's son Limhi became King. Alma had listened to the words of Abinadi and believed in them and began sharing the words with others in secret, by the borders of the land in a place called Mormon. Alma baptised himself and others in the waters of Mormon. King Noah found out and wanted to kill them but Alma and about 450 believers fled before the guards of King Noah found them. The Lamanites spared the Nephites because of their fair daughters, but made them pay tribute of half of all they had and let them live but the priests who had fled, saw lamanite women gathered and dancing and they stole 24 of them away. The Lamanites thought it was King Limhis people and an army was sent to fight the Nephites. The King of the Lamanites was injured and carried to King Limhi and then the truth was discovered that it was not the people of Nephi but the priests of King Noah. When Ammon had arrived at the land, King Limhi thought he and his brethren were the priests of King Noah and that is why they were bound and were going to put them to death, until it was discovered they were from the land of Zarahemla. There were fights between the Lamanites and Nephites, and many of the men were killed, which left many widows so King Limhi had the men share provisions with the widows and orphans so they did not starve.
