Born Again | Herbert Cooper - Audio

from People's Church · host Herbert Cooper

John 3:3 Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, unless you are born again, you cannot see the Kingdom of God.” (NLT) John 3:4 “What do you mean?” exclaimed Nicodemus. “How can an old man go back into his mother’s womb and be born again?” (NLT) John 3:5 Jesus replied, “I assure you, no one can enter the Kingdom of God without being born of water and the Spirit. (NLT) 1. Being born again is a spiritual birth John 3:6–7 Humans can reproduce only human life, but the Holy Spirit gives birth to spiritual life. 7 So don’t be surprised when I say, ‘You must be born again.’ (NLT) John 3:8  The wind blows wherever it wants. Just as you can hear the wind but can’t tell where it comes from or where it is going, so you can’t explain how people are born of the Spirit.” (NLT) 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 Don’t you realize that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you and was given to you by God? You do not belong to yourself, 20 for God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body. (NLT) 4 Characteristics of Being Born Again 1. Confession 1 John 4:2–3 By this you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is of God, 3 and every spirit that does not confess that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is not of God. And this is the spirit of the Antichrist, which you have heard was coming, and is now already in the world. (NKJV) Romans 10:9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. (NKJV) 2. Change 1 John 3:9 No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God. (NIV) 3. Compassion 1 John 3:14 We know that we have passed from death to life, because we love each other. Anyone who does not love remains in death. (NIV) 1 John 4:20–21 Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. 21 And he has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister. (NIV) 1 John 4:7 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. (NIV) John 13:35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (NIV) 4. Conquerors 1 John 5:4 for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. (NIV) Romans 8:37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. (NIV) 1 Corinthians 15:55–57  “Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?”  56 The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. (NIV)
