Sven counsels Christian, born out of wedlock, abandoned by her mother, and raised by an abusive grandmother. Christian feels she suffered "the trifecta" of bad messages: unwanted, not good enough, and feelings that don't matter. No anger was allowed in her upbringing, so she had no outlet for dealing with unrelenting pain at the hands of her grandmother, her biological mother, and a cruel sister. A grandfather -- with a hook, literally and figuratively -- occasionally figured in. Small wonder that with her identity stripped from her, she's in a constant state of survival mode.
