from Macabre London

Did you know London was burned to the ground before it was even finished being built? Join me today for tales of Boudicca and her army gathered from the Iceni tribe.Boudicca was bullied and beaten by the invading Romans but she didn't back down. She got mad, got even and then took the advice of her gods to wreak fiery havoc on not one, not two, but three new Roman cities which she torched and burned to the ground. We hear from Dr Francis Young who explains about the Goddess Andraste and just how powerful and blood thirsty she may have been ( did she wear a serpent as a crown?) and we learn how the Romans nearly quit their invasion after being terrified by the wailing banshees of Mona (modern day Anglesey). So come and join us as we delve into ancient Britain and learn about the fiery vengeance of the pagans, druids and the celts. The first stops in this series are:How the druids came to beHow London became occupiedThe Romans are coming!Boudicca and the Iceni Tribe try to compromiseThe Romans attack Boudicca and her daughtersBoudicca gets mad, then gets evenThe fall of Camulodunum, Londinium & VeralamiumThe fall of BoudiccaSo if you're interested in magick, the occult, historical beliefs, witchcraft and just how the religion we know today was developed and forged in the old fires, with the occasional human sacrifice thrown in, then make sure you join me, this is just the beginning! This series is sponsored by Snag - Clothing for Every Body! Song Against Songs, The by G. K. Chesterton (1874 - 1936) LibriVox LibriVox volunteers bring you 9 recordings of The Song Against Songs by G. K. Chesterton. This was the Fortnightly Poetry project for October 16, 2011.Chesterton was a large man, standing 6 feet 4 inches (1.93 m) and weighing around 21 stone (130 kg; 290 lb). His girth gave rise to a famous anecdote. During World War I a lady in London asked why he was not 'out at the Front'; he replied, 'If you go round to the side, you will see that I am.' On another occasion he remarked to his friend George Bernard Shaw: "To look at you, anyone would think a famine had struck England". Shaw retorted, "To look at you, anyone would think you have caused it". P. G. Wodehouse once described a very loud crash as "a sound like Chesterton falling onto a sheet of tin."( Summary from Wikipedia ) What Works?
