The World Health Organization recognizes burnout as a legitimate syndrome and defines it as "feelings of energy depletion or exhaustion; increased mental distance from one's job, or feelings of negativism or cynicism related to one's job; and reduced professional efficacy." We also know it happens to mom's who work outside the home and inside the home and to caregivers. The term burnout used to be used to describe hippies and druggies in the 70's yet now it is a part of our daily language and is becoming an epidemic with potentially catastrophic results. Can you recognize when you or someone around you has it? How do you help yourself or others to heal from it? What do you do if you have it and need that job? Can you recover or is your only option to leave or suffer? My guest on this episode has dedicated his life and his business to helping not just leaders recognize burnout and recover from it but also help everyone avoid ever suffering from it.
