from Bourgmeisterin · host Bourgmeisterin
𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗧 𝟮: 𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗿𝘆, 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 🇱🇺🇬🇧If anyone still thinks Luxembourg just quietly sat through WWII… think again.RAF crews paid a devastating price in the fight against Nazi German –nearly half of Bomber Command airmen never made it home. Luxembourg’s skies became part of that story, with dozens of British and Allied airmen losing their lives here. Their graves and memorials across the country still stand as quiet reminders of that sacrifice✈️But there were also stories of 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲 on the ground. When RAF pilots survived crashes, 𝗟𝘂𝘅𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗴’𝘀 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 stepped in –hiding them on farms, moving them from house to house, forging papers, and helping them escape across borders. If caught, the punishment was brutal: arrest, torture, even deportation to concentration camps. And Luxembourg wasn’t only rescuing – it was actively helping the Allies win.At 𝗣𝗲𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗲, where the Nazis were developing the terrifying 10-meter-long V-1 and V-2 rockets, Luxembourgers secretly passed vital information to British intelligence. That intelligence helped Britain bomb the site in 1943 and delay Hitler’s rocket programme.𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗗-𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗶𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, Luxembourg proved one thing: size has nothing to do with courage.📸: Wiki
