Boutique Destinations

from TAKING OFF with PHL Hosted by Philadelphia International Airport

A newfound emphasis on local, unique experiences is changing the way travelers choose their vacation and leisure destinations. Travelers seeking adventure are searching for authentic, distinctive experiences -- and airlines have answered the demand by increasing their non-stop flights to these boutique destinations. Passengers are not only interested in their experience within the origination airport, but also in the destination city. PHL's hub carrier, American Airlines, is adding more niche locations to its service, in addition to major metropolitan cities around the globe. As a result, we are connecting more travelers from the Philadelphia region with non-stop flights to these destinations - and we are opening the city's door to new visitors from new locations every day. In this episode, Chellie talks about this trend with Andrew Trull, who is the lead of Global Communications for American Airlines at PHL, along with Svetlana Yazovskikh, who is the Executive Director of Global Tourism of the Philadelphia Convention & Visitors Bureau.
