Boy Loses Lower Leg & Local Hantavirus Warnings

A 12‑year‑old boy injured in a deadly Fresno crash has had his lower leg amputated, according to his family. He was riding a mini motorcycle with his 13‑year‑old cousin, who was killed in the crash, and now faces a long recovery, including physical therapy and a future prosthetic.  California is among three states monitoring residents who were aboard a cruise ship linked to a deadly hantavirus outbreak. Health officials say no Californians have shown symptoms so far and stress the risk to the public remains low, as contact tracing continues following multiple deaths tied to the ship.
