Hello, welcome back to another episode of Broken Record. My name is Ellie, I'm your host, and I thought this episode it would be fun to play songs by boy bands. I have recently been really, like, I feel like a lot of boy band songs remind me of summer and remind me of warm weather and feeling happy, and so I thought it would be fun to have an episode of boy bands because I feel like sometimes they don't get enough credit, even though they are immensely popular. But anyway, that was just Fireproof by One Direction.

I'm going to play another One Direction song. How this is going to work is I will play two songs from a band, and I'll talk about them, and it'll be super fun. So that was just Fireproof by One Direction, and here is Wolves by One Direction. I love that song.

It makes me so happy, and I love, I just love listening to that song, and I love blasting it with the windows down in my car. Like, it just makes me so happy. And this wouldn't be a complete episode about bands if we didn't talk about the Beatles. I love the Beatles so much.

I grew up on them. I'm sure almost every single person in the world knows who the Beatles are, or at least have heard of them. They're immensely popular. I love their music, and I thought it would be super fun to play Sgt.

Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, because I love that song so much, and I also feel like it's not necessarily one of their most popular songs. It is a popular song, but it's not like Hey Jude or Yellow Sunmarine, so I don't know. It's kind of like, for me, it's a good test of, like, do you know the Beatles, or do you just know, like, the popular songs, like, Where You Stand? But I love this song so much, so I thought it would be fun to play it.

Here's Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band by the Beatles. I love that song. It's so fun, and it makes me so happy, and it's just incredible.

The next song I want to play is Get Back. I love this song so much. It makes me so happy. I also am playing it because of the Disney Plus documentary.

I'm not sure if it's a documentary, but I think it is. I'm going to call it a documentary. Or I guess a documentary series, because it is a TV series, or a limited series. But basically, the Beatles came out with this documentary series in 2021, I believe, and it was basically just, like, footage on footage on footage of them creating an album and, like, leading up to their big rooftop performance.

That's so iconic. And it was really interesting. They had so, so, so many hours of footage, and it was really interesting to watch. It was, like, I think six hours total of, well, no, no, way more than six hours total of footage, but six hours that was, like, released in this docu-series, I believe.

I'm not 100% sure. Maybe it was six episodes. I don't know. But it was a lot of hours, and it was really interesting to, like, see how they were creating this album and seeing how, like, the process behind it and, like, how they interacted with each other.

I found it very interesting. But yeah, so I thought it would be fun to play Get Back by the Beatles. I love them. I love the Beatles so much.

They make me so happy. I saw Paul McCartney in concert in 2021? Maybe 2022? I forget, but it was outstanding.

I'm so, so, so happy and blessed that I got to see him live. It made me so happy. My sister and I cried at the concert because it was so cool. It was just really special, and I'm glad I got to see Paul McCartney play live because it was really cool.

Okay, the next band we also have to talk about if we're talking about bands is the Beach Boys. I do not listen to the Beach Boys as frequently as I listen to other bands like One Direction and the Beatles and other people, but I do love their music. I really value their music. I think I don't listen to them as much because there's a Beach Boys, like, documentary or movie.

I'm not even sure what it is, but it's some film about the Beach Boys, and I'm pretty sure it was, like, scripted, so it's not a documentary, but, or, I mean, it could be, but, like, it was, like, fake, like, film based on real events, and it really scared me. I watched it. My parents watched it when I was, like, eight or nine, when I was really young, and there was, like, there was a scene about drugs in it or something, and I got so scared, so I was immediately, like, turned off of the Beach Boys, but as I've gotten older, like, I've accepted them more and more, but it really freaked me out, so I didn't listen to their music for a while, but we're good now, and I love their music now, so I thought it would be fun to play Surfing USA by the Beach Boys. I love that song.

Like, I feel like even if you don't know the Beach Boys, don't listen to the Beach Boys, you know that song, and you know the, like, iconic harmonies, and it just makes me so happy. It makes me really think of summer and want to be surfing in the water and just, like, be on the beach and have fun with my friends. It makes me happy. The next song I'm going to play is also by the Beach Boys.

It's called Good Vibrations. I feel like this is another one of their iconic songs, and it's so cool, so special. The harmonies are insane, so I thought I'd play it. So here's Good Vibrations by the Beach Boys.

All right, now we're going to do a time jump from the 60s to the 2000s, or really the 3000s, because our next band is the Jonas Brothers, and I recently saw them. I believe it was fall 2021, but I'm not 100% sure, but I saw them at the White River in the theater. It was super fun, and Kelsey bought me open. She was amazing, and it was really cool to see them live, and I'm really happy I did, but I thought it would be fun to play a song from before they went on their break and after they went on their break, and the song I'm playing before they went on their break is the Year 3000.

This song makes me so happy, and I love listening to it, so I had to play it. Here is Year 3000 by the Jonas Brothers. Year 3000 by the Jonas Brothers. I love that song so much.

The next band I'm going to talk about and play songs from is called Five Seconds of Summer. This is, again, a more recent band. They actually toured with One Direction, who we heard from in the beginning of the episode. I believe that tour was in 2014, 2013, maybe, but it was really cool, and I'm really, really, really upset that I didn't get to go because it would have been so fun, but anyway, I did see Five Seconds of Summer on their own when they were touring last year.

Yeah, last year in June, and it was really special, really cool, and it was really fun to hear all those iconic songs of theirs live, and it made me really happy. But yeah, so here's one of their songs, Youngblood by Five Seconds of Summer. I love that song. The next song I want to play is one of their more recent songs.

I guess Youngblood is technically recent. That came out, like, four or five years ago. So actually, it's not really that recent, but recent of the grand scheme of things. But Complete Mess was probably last year, two years ago, maybe, yeah, between a year and two years ago.

I love this song. I think it's so fun, and it's so good. So here is Complete Mess by Five Seconds of Summer. I love that song, and I love the next two songs I'm going to play by the band Jackson Five.

I love them so much. I remember growing up, and I still am growing up, but I remember, like, when I was younger, I would listen to these songs, and I just, like, wouldn't be able to compute in my brain that this is Michael Jackson singing, because his voice sounded so high, or, like, everyone's voice sounded so high, and it was crazy to me. Like, I couldn't believe it. Even though his voice is high in his own music, like, something just didn't click in my brain that, like, this was not a girl singing, and it was crazy, and I love, love, love their music.

And these two songs specifically remind me of a very funny movie called Daddy Daycare. It is so funny. Eddie Murphy stars in it, and it's hilarious. I love watching this movie, and these songs always remind me of it, and it makes me really happy.

So, the first song we're going to play is ABC by Jackson Five. I love that song so much. It makes me so happy. Now it is time for our last song, I Want You Back by Jackson Five.

It makes me so happy, and I love listening to it. But first, I want to say thank you for listening to this episode. My name is Ellie. I'm the host of the show you're currently listening to, Broken Record, which is on every Tuesday at 6 p.m.
