Bozeman’s Masonic Lodge No. 18

Preservation architect Leslie Gilmore explores the history and architecture of the lodge, which has served Bozeman’s Masons for the past 125 years. The evolution of the building’s architecture since its construction in 1890 represents both the lodge’s desire to keep up with changing styles (evident elsewhere on Main Street) and an economic response to the building’s maintenance needs. That evolution continues, as currently planned alterations reflect the lodge’s desire to have a building that is both more visible and more in keeping with Bozeman’s historic Main Street.
