Brad Balliett

In this episode, I chat with Brad Balliett. Mr. Balliett is a New York City based bassoonist, composer, and educator known for his creative range and social engagement. He performs with leading ensembles such as the Metropolitan Opera, New York City Ballet, and Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center, and teaches at The Juilliard School, the Peabody Institute, and the Bard Prison Initiative. As both performer and composer, Mr. Balliett moves easily between classical and contemporary styles, with commissions from Carnegie Hall and the Metropolis Ensemble. Deeply committed to music’s power to connect people, he leads songwriting and composition workshops in prisons across the United States, supporting creativity within incarcerated communities.
