Fear of Death What happens when the fear of death becomes real?And what do you do when the weight of life feels like too much to carry? In this message, we kick off the series Brave: What Faith Does to Fear by confronting one of the deepest fears we all face—the fear of death. Through 1 Corinthians 15, we discover that Jesus didn’t just come to comfort us in death… He came to defeat it. From the very beginning, humanity has been trying to cover shame, manage sin, and carry burdens we were never meant to hold. But what happens when those things don’t stay light… when they turn into chains? This message explores how the cross and resurrection didn’t just change eternity—they offer freedom right now. You don’t have to live weighed down. You don’t have to live afraid. Because of Jesus, death has lost its sting and chains can still fall. 1 Corinthians 15:54-57 Discussion topics HEAD – What did Jesus say to you through the Word? What stood out to you most from the message on fear of death? How does 1 Corinthians 15 change the way we understand death?  What does it mean that “death has been swallowed up in victory”?  Why do you think Paul speaks so confidently about victory instead of fear? How does the story of Adam and Eve trying to cover themselves connect to how we handle sin and shame today? HEART – How did it make you feel? Where do you see fear showing up in your life right now?  Another way to ask this question is Which “chain” from the message did you relate to the most? Is there an area of your life where you’ve been trying to manage or cover something instead of bringing it to God?  What would it look like for you to truly believe that you don’t have to carry that weight anymore? HANDS – What are you going to do with it? What is one step you can take this week to stop carrying something you were never meant to carry?  What is one “chain” you need to bring to God and begin letting go of? Who is someone you can talk to this week about what God is doing in your life? Group Action / Prayer Moment Next week we are celebrating baptisms.
