Brazilian Soprano Carla’s Fast Natural Home Birth

Today on The Natural Birth Podcast we have Carla.  Carla is a mama of one from Brazil who’s currently living with her Hungarian husband in Berlin, Germany. She is a Soprano committed to her psycho-spiritual growth through transpersonal therapy and shamanic work.  When Carla fell pregnant she knew she wanted to break the cultural norm in Brazil of having a c-section. Brazils c-section rate is more than a whopping 55%. The WHO recommends to not exceed 10% and the global rate is 21%!  Carla wanted to bring her baby earth side in the most gentle and natural way. So she booked in with a home birth midwife and was also planning on hiring a doula, but the midwife didn’t want her too. She said she works alone and that she likes to support women just as deeply as a doula does.  In the end Carla had an empowering, fast, natural birth at home with a champion of a supportive husband all the way through. However, as you will hear in her story, she didn’t get the supportive midwife that she hoped for.  Carla’s story shows that preparation and following your own inner voice and intuition is key in having an empowering birth experience.
