from The Brighton Chamber Podcast · host Brighton and Hove Chamber of Commerce

John Barradell arrived as the chief executive of Brighton and Hove City Council in October 2009. Originally from South East London, John had visited Brighton and Hove since he was a child. This obviously made quite an impression on him as he counts the city and the people who live and work in it as the main reasons behind him wanting to take on the role. John's background includes 22 years working in various roles in the private sector before starting his career in local government in 2002 - and going on to become deputy chief executive at Westminster City Council. Awarded an OBE in the Queen's New Year Honours in 2008, John is passionate about public services and believes councils should be at the heart of the community. At this inspirational breakfast, John talks about the challenges and rewards of leading the council as well as sharing his future vision for the city and the local business community.
