Breaking Down the Role of Ego as a Leader with Martin Pemberton

from Everyday Leadership · host Sope Agbelusi

"Labels put limits on people, it's about fixing your mindset..and realising that I will be anything that I need to be based on that present moment" - Martin Pemberton When we attach what we are good at with "who we are" and this stops happening, it can seem like your world has crumbled to pieces. The ego loves labels, it doesn't show gratitude, it makes you think you are better (or less) than someone, it pushes you into spaces that you may not desire. But it is becoming more important to not only have self-awareness but awareness of self in our lives. In this week's episode, Martin Pemberton, ex footballer shares relatable understandings of the role of ego in our lives. It can be our personal bodyguard and can protect us, but it's not front of house, and should not be in control. About Martin Pemberton Martin Pemberton is an English football central defender who has played for many different professional clubs before moving to non-league side Farsley Celtic in spring 2005. It became a challenging period with personal battles with mental health issues after retiring from a career as a professional footballer and entering into a challenging role as Learning Mentor for disadvantaged children.
