Breaking generational curses

Westside LO sat down with me finally in the streets of West End Atlanta for the beginning of what I hope and pray will be a series. She did not want to talk about deeper topics but she promised that we could work up to that. Happy Birthday Lora!Lora is my birth mother who has battled mental health diagnosis in addition to an addictive personality while simultaneously searching to fill a void she did not receive from her mother, my grandmother who raised me from 3 years old. We took it easy this conversation but I did ask at the end, "If your mother was so bad, why'd you leave me with her?" which is a question that has lingered in me for over 20 years that I've never asked.
