'Breaking the Language Barrier'

from Project People Podcasts · host Louise Van Laar

Breaking The Language Barrier Can the Spanish be taught English?  You bet they can and this is partly thanks to Mark Levy the Head of English programmes at the British Council in Spain.  In 1996 the British Council and Ministry of Education implanted a programme of bilingual learning to marginal or disadvantaged state schools in Spain to provide these students an opportunity to learn in English.  These days almost all children in the state sector have the opportunity to learn in English and Spain has improved immensely in language competency. I’ve been part of the British Council programme for almost 20 years and so this subject is very close to my heart. So thank you Mark for agreeing to talk to #projectpeoplepodcasts, I thoroughly enjoyed talking to you. He disfrutado muchísimo conversando contigo.
