Breast Cancer Now to host launch event for upcoming fundraiser

from Manx Newscast

A launch event is to be held this evening ahead of a fundraiser with a difference that's set to take place in May. Breast Cancer Now is hosting its annual sleepover - this time, in Peel Castle. Sandy Denning from the charity told Manx Radio it's hoped the event will raise money for vital research into cancers like invasive lobular breast cancer, which is extremely difficult to detect. The form is the second most common type of breast cancer, and accounts for 15 per cent of all breast cancers. However, there is no specific treatment plan for it, so currently, early detection is key. Siobhán Fletcher caught up with Sandy and Andrea Lener, who has experienced the tricky-to-diagnose form first-hand.
