Breast Implants - The Truth about the Industry revealed

French company producing the PIP implants came under fire when it emerged they had been making breast implants with an industrial grade silicone not suitable for medical devices. It appears owner Jean Claude Mas was going to great lengths to cover up what he was doing. He is currently serving a 4 years prison sentences which he is appealing through the courts now. The German firm Rhein-land TUV who were in charge of testing the products seemed to have avoided all responsibility for passing the implants as safe, when a French courst ruled that they were not to blame and compensation paid to victims to help them explant their implants, might have to be paid back. The PIP scandal has now also exposed potential dangers within medical devices – not only breast implants but contraceptive devices and even pacemakers.  I am joined by PIP ACTION founder Jan Spivey and PIP Campaigner Tracey Ahmet. PIP Action is a international campaign group for justice. Fighting in the courts, but also at the heart of the European Commission and nationally against the governments and departments of health.  Both ladies have been deeply effected by the PIP implants they had put in after they started making both women extremely sick and needing further surgeries. They are now helping countless other women through their support group and also campaigning for changes. I will be discussing all this plus how unregulated the industry is, including in the UK and more, so lets welcome the ladies onto the show..
