Breath work, a Cancer Survivor and Living with Cystic Fibrosis with Aoife Rafter (Breathe with Aoife)

Aoife is a connected conscious breath work coach from Ireland who is living with cystic fibrosis and is a cancer survivor. She suffered a medical and mental health crisis that transformed her life and takes us back to when she was living it up in Byron Bay, Australia and had to fly home due to illness to then receiving an email diagnosing her with cervical cancer. She underwent a hysterectomy and radiotherapy at only 27. Due to her lung disease, the pandemic left Aoife isolated and cocooned from the world which is when her mental struggles began and she knew something in her life had to change. She became a reflexologist and once she identified that her breath was her enemy, she began exploring breath work and taking classes. Breath work allowed her to unveil and release emotions she didn’t know were being suppressed and a whole new chapter of her life began. We touch on traditional Chinese medicines, different chakras, energy and how powerful the lungs really are. The lungs hold on to really strong powerful emotions and can impact on us daily without us even knowing, and Aoife has found it transformational since tuning in to her breath. The benefits of breath work, connecting with the breath and the heart space allows them to feel grounded at the end of a session, to be open and trusts the process of breath work.
