BREC Leaders Discuss Millage Renewal, Park Safety and City-Brooks Community Meeting

BREC Interim CEO Janet Simmons, Maurice Velasquez and Dr. Ray Harrell Lawson joined Mornings with Brian Haldane for the latest “BREC Room” segment. They discussed the upcoming millage renewal, stressing that it supports maintenance and operations across the park system. They also shared updates on Imagine Your Parks 3, project prioritization, public safety, park maintenance, recent flooding impacts and the upcoming City-Brooks Park community meeting. The conversation also highlighted BREC’s summer camps, volunteer base, daily operations, International Yoga Day at Independence Park and the broader goal of creating better parks and a brighter future for East Baton Rouge Parish.
