BRENTFORD’S DEADLINE DAY DRAMA: WISSA PANTO IS FINALLY OVER, NELSON ARRIVAL AND A CLUB HOLDING ITS NERVE

Brentford’s transfer deadline day felt more like a pantomime than a football negotiation – complete with the chorus of “oh yes he will, oh no he won’t” surrounding Yoane Wissa’s future. After days of speculation and a storm sparked by the forward’s Instagram statement, the deal finally closed with Newcastle United for a package of £55m, some £30m more than their first offer for the Bees’ striker. As one national outlet put it, “Brentford’s refusal to buckle early forced Newcastle to pay full price.” Reiss Nelson also arrived on loan from Arsenal. Dave 'Laney' Lane and Matt 'The Allard' Allard got together to talk about the dramatic last day of the transfer window and how it leaves Brentford. Hosted on Acast.
