Bret Bielema offers up a look at how Illinois is getting creative with the money gap to try and stay competitive with the more ‘monied’ teams in the league…is Nebraska doing that?

-Illinois head football coach Bret Bielema said on the podium in Chicago last month at B1G Media Days that he hired a new DC (Bobby Hauck) inFebruary to install a scheme that might catch the rest of the league by surprise-He then said on the side podium that he is changing the way his defense is schemed because Illinois can’t afford to pay the numbers needed toget what he wanted otherwise---they had committed a lot of their money to the offensive line, and D-line players were going for “ungodly”amounts of money…so he’s patching together a defense that doesn’t need a bunch of ‘big’ players.
