The Across Her Table podcast has always been committed to telling authentic stories of women and their immigrant experiences. For two seasons we have talked to remarkable women and heard their inspiring stories. Now we would like to add MORE to the conversation. Brewing Ideas will explore ideas, trends, and topics that are relevant to people of color in Canada. YOU may be an immigrant, or not, but if you are a person of color, this series is for you. On our first episode, we talk about libraries and their role in disseminating multiculturalism. Can libraries help create a more inclusive society? Can they help normalize diverse narratives? To get answers, we talked to different libraries and we got some interesting takeaways. We talked to: Mark Williams, CEO and Chief Librarian, Milton Public Library, Ontario (https://www.mpl.on.ca/) Dinah Murdoch of Little Free Diverse Libraries of KW (https://www.kwlittlefreediverselibraries.com/) Rabia Khokhar, a Toronto District School Board teacher and teacher-librarian, writer and equity advocate (https://www.rabiakhokhar.com/) Kelly Kipfer, Manager, Community Engagement and Children's Services, Waterloo Public Library, Ontario (wpl.ca) Other resources: Sarah Kamya (https://littlefreelibrary.org/why-sharing-diverse-books-in-little-free-libraries-matters/) Do send in your comments or feedback about this episode by tweeting them to @acrosshertable or e-mailing them at [email protected]  or send us a voice message at http://www.anchor.fm/acrosshertable/message Don't forget to follow Across Her Table on Instagram @acrosshertable (https://www.instagram.com/acrosshertable) Music credit: City Lights - Audiobinger, Epiphany - Siddhartha Corsus

Murder Archives Nearly We’ve started this podcast to create a dialogue with you, that may help solve a 1929 murder in Toorak. If you want to know more, or help in the amateur sleuthing, we’ve uploaded documents and images to our website www.murderarchives.com.au to complement the podcast.About the case.On 9 September 1929, Norma McLeod, an unmarried 29-year-old teacher was found unconscious in her parent’s home in the prestigious suburb of Toorak. A pair of men’s underpants lay across her forehead. By 5pm that day she was dead. An autopsy revealed a seven-inch crack in the back of her skull caused by violent trauma from a blunt object. The case attracted huge press and public attention; accusations were plentiful, but an inquest returned an open verdict.Almost 90 years after this mysterious death, an extensive three-year investigation involving a re-examination of the police files, combined with an in-depth look at Norma’s family, raises questions about the rigour of the original investigation. With mY liF3 Casandra Garcia Come along with your host Casi G as she takes you along some of the most eventful situations that she has come across in her 18 years of life. Along with some of our rainy days segments. Clementina by A. E. W. Mason Mc bill frank This well-written novel is a fictional account of a true historical rescue mission. In 1719, at the age of 17, when she was on her way across Europe to marry James Stuart, the Catholic pretender to the British throne, Princess Maria Clementina Sobieska was kidnapped and held prisoner by Holy Roman Emperor Charles VI, with the approval of his ally, the Protestant king of England. The king feared that the marriage would produce heirs who might raise a rebellion against the Crown, though Stuart’s own rebellion had failed four years earlier. But Irish soldier of fortune and Stuart's ablest spy, hatches a daring plot to rescue the princess. Filled with spies, romance, palace intrigue and uncertain loyalties, this is the story of how Charles Wogan, once indicted for High Treason in Protestant England, set out to play his part on the international stage. Failure would mean certain death at the hands of Wogan's powerful enemies. But would success bring the result he expects?
