Although John initially felt unworthy, Jesus insisted it was necessary to fulfill God's plan. Following the baptism, the heavens opened, the Holy Spirit descended on Jesus like a dove, and a voice from God the Father declared, "This is My Son. I love Him. I am very pleased with Him."Immediately after, the Holy Spirit led Jesus into the desert, where he fasted and prayed for 40 days. During this time, the devil tempted him, trying to derail his mission. Jesus successfully resisted every temptation by quoting God's Holy Word. After the devil departed, angels came and ministered to him.
