There they met Simeon, a faithful man, and Anna, a prophetess. Both recognized Jesus as the Savior God had promised.Sometime later, Wise Men from the east followed a star to find the newborn King. They first visited King Herod in Jerusalem, who became jealous and secretly plotted to kill Jesus. The star led the Wise Men to Bethlehem, where they worshiped Jesus and gave Him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. God warned them not to return to Herod. Joseph was also warned in a dream to take Mary and Jesus to Egypt, where they stayed until Herod’s death. Afterward, the family returned to Nazareth, where Jesus grew in wisdom, strength, and favor with God and people.When Jesus was twelve, He went with His parents to Jerusalem for the Passover. On the way home, Mary and Joseph realized Jesus was missing and returned to search for Him. After three days, they found Him in the temple, listening to the teachers and asking questions that amazed everyone. Jesus told His parents He was in His Father’s house, but they did not fully understand. He returned to Nazareth with them, obeyed His parents, and continued to grow in wisdom and stature.
