BRIAN BAUMGARTNER: Building Character Through Voice & Physicality

from That One Audition with Alyshia Ochse · host Alyshia Ochse

With an extensive background in theater, actor Brian Baumgartner took everything he learned in his actor training about voice and physicality and brought it with him to Los Angeles. Although he only had a few credits to his name at the time, Brian knew he belonged in Allison Jones' casting office to audition for "The Office." Although he initially read for a different role, Brian went on to spend 9 years on the show, with his character Kevin Malone becoming a fan favorite amongst viewers. Today, Brian shares how he made the most out of a minimal character breakdown, why he doesn't hesitate to ask questions about the script, and what he learned about set etiquette from some of the biggest comedy stars in the industry.
