Brianna's Story

In this episode of Blocked Britain, we meet Brianna, a 26-year-old from Islington North in London, whose path into NHS healthcare has been blocked by deliberate choices made in Westminster. Despite being in one of London's areas facing significant deprivation, Brianna found herself shut out of training opportunities not because she lacked ability or motivation, but because HM Treasury and Health Education England chose to cap budgets for workforce development. The training places existed, the need was clear, but the political will to fund adequate healthcare training was missing. This is Brianna's story of how Treasury spending limits turned her ambition to serve into another casualty of austerity. Blocked Britain is produced independently and receives no government funding.
