Bridgeland Place Revival for Affordable Housing | Calgary News

Calgary’s bold move to restore Bridgeland Place—a 55-year-old landmark—will deliver 203 new affordable homes by 2028, reusing its sturdy concrete frame to slash 5,000+ tons of CO2 and boost energy efficiency. With $90M in public funding and a mixed-income model, this retrofit tackles Calgary’s urgent housing crisis, where one in five residents needs help. Originally slated for 2027, the project’s slight delay ensures long-term value and sustainability, offering stable, low-cost living as the city grows—and proving that smart reuse beats demolition.
