Hello, welcome back to another episode of broken record. My name is Ellie. I'm your host and today we are going to be talking about bridges Not the physical structure bridges, but bridges and songs because they provide such an important element to songs And there's always so incredible and I love listening to them So I thought it would be super fun to talk about some of my favorite bridges So in case you didn't know a bridge musically is something that connects two parts of a song usually the like chorus is In the last minute the song is usually towards the end and it has like a different chord progression or key or like some type of difference Then what the song has sounded like previously and it is so amazing so good And so I wanted to start off with a pretty iconic bridge for people my age Drivers license by Olivia Rodrigo this song when it came out in 2021 it was immediately picked up on it Sword to the top of the charts It was so good and a part of that hype that was being created around the song was within the bridge because it was so powerful and different And it was really fun to listen to so the bridge for drivers license by Olivia Rodrigo goes Red lights stop signs I still see your face and the white cars front yards can't drive past can't drive past the places we used to go to because you know I still love you babe sidewalks We crossed I still hear your voice and the traffic or laughing overall the noise, but I'm so blue nowhere through But you know I still love you babe and so that's that in itself is a very powerful like the very powerful set of lyrics It's so good in the production if you hopefully you've heard this song because it was very popular But if you haven't heard this on the production of over the whole song really But especially this bridge is so cool and powerful and like just like all encompassing like it's like you really just like get sucked into it And it's so amazing in towns it And I love the way she sings it because she kind of cuz drivers license She kind of sings it like like she's trying to be like kind of calm and like like like heartbroken Whatever and then she like kind of gets kind of ink steam like annoyed in the bridge and it's so cool It's so cool. I love this bridge It really like when when I think of bridges like this is one of the first ones that like pops up in my head Yeah, it's really cool And so the next two songs I want to talk about are actually about the same person Billy Eilish I love Billy's music I love it so much and it I just love listening to it And so the first song I want to talk about the bridge of is called the 30th This was on in on like a set of singles that she released called guitar songs I love this song so much.

It's really like kind of upsetting and sad It's about like a car crash and her friend her friend who was like in a car crash that she like didn't know was happening But the bridge is really powerful and it's like the way it's produced It makes it feel like she like does it in one breath But it's it's insane. It's so cool And it's really just her voice and I can't remember if there's guitar under it or if it's just her voice But there's no heavy production. It's really different from the last song when you're talking about driver's license by Olivia Rodrigo But it's a really powerful song and it's so interesting and cool And so the lyrics for the bridge are what if it happened to you on a different day on a bridge where there wasn't a rail in the way Or a neighborhood street where the little kids play or the angeles crest in the snow or the rain What if you weren't alone? There were kids in the car?

What if you were remote? No one knows where you are? If you changed anything would you have not have survived your life your life your life This is just this bridge is so powerful. It's so powerful and so like incredible and like just listening to it now There was a lot of questions in it and the way Billy sings it like you can tell she's like working herself up And like she's like overthinking it and like getting really nervous and it's a really powerful bridge and it's so incredible I think Billy and Phineas they're kind of their duo, but so Billy Eilish has a brother named Phineas and Phineas works with her on All her songs and like helps her produce them and write them and I think their teamwork is just incredible and the lyrics They write the production they do like it's so cool and I love this bridge because it's so simple compared to all of her other songs But it's so powerful like it still gets that same effect that her other songs do and so the next song the next Billy Eilish song I want to talk about is Zany this out this not Roger this bridge is a lot shorter than the other two bridges I was talking about but it's so this one is opposite of the 30th bridge because it's so heavily produced and so like kind of glitchy But I love it so much.

I love it. I love it. I love it So the bridge lyrics are please don't try to kiss me on the sidewalk on your cigarette break I can't afford to love someone who isn't dying by mistake in Silver Lake. I Again powerful powerful lyrics.

I have listened So this isn't the song Zany and I listen to the song so many times so many times and I can just like just reading those lyrics I could like picture how it sounds in the song and like the production that is on that because like me reading it to you obviously Like it gives off some effect, but like the production adds so much value and like it's so good. It's so good I love it so much. It's I just Billy Eilish is just so talented. She's so talented I just want to like talk to her and her brother about just like production and just like how they create songs because she has such a Wide variety of songs, but they're all like so amazing It's just really interesting to me because I feel like a lot of times like some artists like we'll try different style songs and like we'll have like a slower song if they're known for popular songs or feel like do a heavy production song when they're known for less production songs And like kind of won't work out for them Like it won't be like as popular as a song But I feel like with Billy like all of her songs are just so good and always like get picked up in some way And it's so cool, and it's so cool.

I love Billy. She's so cool. Yeah, she's crazy I love her so the next song I want to talk about is actually by Queen The Queen has multiple multiple bridges that are all like so amazing But I want to talk about good old fashioned lower boy because I love this song it makes me so like happy and like I don't know It's just a really good song and so I wanted to talk about the bridge because it's so like satisfying in my brain It sounds so good and I love love love love listening to it And so the lyrics for this bridge or when I'm not with you think of you always I miss you I miss those long hot summer nights when I'm not with you think of me always love you love you Hey boy, where do you get it from? Hey boy?

Where'd you go? I learned my passion in the good old-fashioned school of lover boys I love that bridge so much. It's so good It's like I feel like these lyrics are like I don't want to say more simple because I feel like that's like Discrediting Queen but I feel like they're more simplistic than the other songs I was talking about with like Billy and Olivia But it's still so good and like just the way they all sing this bridge is just iconic and I love it so much and I like just Specifically the lyrics of when I'm not with you think of you always and hey boy Where'd you get it from? Hey boy?

Where'd you go? Like I can just picture like exactly how that sounds and it's so satisfying in my brain and I like I need to listen to this song Like right now. It's so good. I love love love this song.

I love this bridge. It's so good. It's so good Okay, anyway, enough about my queen obsession, but the next song I want to talk about is by Renee rap It's called Snow Angel. It's also the title snow angel is also the title of her album that she recently debuted and I love Renee I actually went to her concert recently.

I'll probably do an episode on that soon. So stay tuned But Renee rap is incredible and her voice is so good It's so good and I love listening to it And so snow angel was the lead single off of her album snow angel and so this this song is just so good I love it so much. It's produced beautifully the range that Renee has is just incredible like I can't speak highly speak higher About this song like it's so good. It's so good.

Okay, but anyway, I'll read the lyrics for the bridge I tried so hard. I came so far. I met a boy. He broke my heart I blame him because it's easier, but I still look for him in her the seasons change Addiction strange.

I loved back then what I hate today I wish I went a different way, but if I went back I would do the same like can we just sit with that for a second like come on Come on that bridge. Oh my gosh. It's so good My the the bridge has one of my favorite lyrics of the song which is the seasons change addiction strange I loved back then when I hate today I just like I can't like I'm smiling right now because I love this song so much But like it's kind of sad what the lyrics are talking about but like it's such a good song It's such a good song in the way that like Renee sings it like the production is so good in this part This song is the production of this song is really good But it's specifically in the bridge because there's like an electric bass or an electric guitar or something That just like adds that extra level of angst to this bridge and it's so good. I love this song Oh my gosh.

I love this song. I recommend listening to all these songs I listen to but especially this one because it's so good and Renee wrap deserves more credit because she's just she's incredible Yeah, so I have a couple more bridges I want to talk about but they're all by the same person And I think if you listen to my show you can you would probably be able to guess who they're by But they're by Miss Taylor Swift. I love Tay Tay. She is my queen.

She's my mother. She is the best I love her to death support her forever and always yeah, I just love Taylor Swift I could talk from literally like 24 hours about Taylor Swift did not get tired of it because she is a goddess I don't got but anyway instead of just expressive like saying I love her over and over again We're gonna talk about her bridges So the first bridge I want to talk about because it's on the top of my mind because I was listening to it on the way here today And I love this song so much and I love the bridge. It's from my tears ricochet, which is on Taylor Swift's folklore album I love this song so much. It's so sad and like upsetting but it's so so so beautiful And I love listening to it and I will listen to it always But yeah, so this is the bridge of this song the lyrics go and I can go anywhere I want anywhere I want just not home and you can aim for my heart go for blood But you would still miss me and your bones and I still talk to you when I'm screaming at the sky And when you can't sleep at night you hear my stolen lullabies.

Oh my gosh Like come on. Okay, I get it. I get it like me reading lyrics probably actually It's not even probably it just doesn't it just doesn't deliver it the way that like it's delivered in the songs obviously Because I'm not the person singing it and I'm also like not with any production But you just have to trust me listen to this song if you can my tears ricochet Taylor Swift folklore It's like it's so pretty it's so pretty and I love this song and hearing it so Taylor Swift a restore I'm sure you know about it But in the air store she sings this song my tears ricochet and she sings the bridge and it's so good It was so cool to hear live Taylor Swift is just iconic like she's so good She's so good. I love listening to her But the next song I want to talk about by my sister So if the next bridge is from all too well, I love all too well the 10 minute version specifically because who doesn't love a 10 minute song But I love it so much in the bridge is so sad, but it's so good It's so good and again This is one of those songs where I can like bridges where I can just picture exactly how it sounds and it's just it's so good It's so good, but okay.

Here is the bridge. Well, maybe we got lost in translation Maybe I asked for too much But maybe this thing was a masterpiece till you tore it all up running scared I was there I remember it all too well and you call me up again just to break me like a promise So casually cruel in the name of being honest. I'm a crumbled up piece of paper lying here cuz I remember it all oh I love Taylor Swift and this bridge is so upsetting, but it's so brilliant one of my favorite So I was gonna say I was gonna say one of my favorite lyrics in this break in the song in in this bridge is so casually cruel And the name of being honest that that lyric just like speaks to so many levels But I was going to say that but then I thought about my mom Because my mom is an avid Swiftie just like me my mom loves to like so I've she went to the air So I'm gonna be the other day with all of her girlfriends and she had a blast she dressed up She had like she had heart sunglasses She had a Taylor Swift t-shirt on like she was having the time of her life and I loved that word I was a little bit jealous that I couldn't go but it's okay I'm glad she had fun, but anyway I always think of my mom after the spurtage happens because actually maybe not after this bridge happens I forget when in the song but there's a point in this song where the lyric goes like there's the end there's an end of a verse that says but he watched me watch the front door all night willing you to come and he said it's supposed to be fun turning 21 and after the turning 21 line There's kind of like a pause and like before going into the next lyric Because it's in between verses and my mom without fail every single time we listen to the song together She like screams I hate Jake Chillin Hall because this song is about Jake Chillin Hall and how he like mistreated Taylor and Quite literally every single time I listen to this song with my mom. She's screams I hate Jake Chillin Hall after that it's supposed to be fun turning 21 line and she says I hate Jake Chillin Hall Who doesn't show up for 21st birthday and like This is like this is like this well this song is like so like upsetting and sad but I always kind of laugh Towards the end of it because my mom is so funny.

She just like a without fail She says it like when we were at the air a store she said it at a concert when we're driving with our family She says it and she says it in the car when we're listening to it in the radio in the store She says it. I'm like mom like I love her. She like without fail will say it it just makes me It makes me laugh so much because while we all have our feelings about Taylor Swift's expert friend Jake Chillin Hall My mom is so vocal about it. I like to anybody will listen and I love it so much.

It makes me laugh She's got a silly she's a silly she's a silly goose But yeah, the next the next bridge of the song I want to talk about is off of Taylor Swift's song Taylor Swift's album love her but the song is death by a thousand cuts. I love this song so much It makes me so happy except it's kind of sad But I love it the next song the bridge to the next song is my heart my hips my body my love Trying to find a part of me that you didn't touch gave up on me like I was a bad drug Now I'm searching for signs in a haunted club our songs our films united We stand our country guess it was a lawless land quiet my fears with the touch of your hand Paper cut strings from our paper thin hands my time my wine my spirit my trust trying to find a part of me You didn't take up it gave you too much but it wasn't enough but I'll be all right. It's just a thousand cuts I just like Taylor like she like come on come on. She writes all of her songs like by herself I mean sometimes she has co-writers, but she writes all of her songs and after like 17 years of doing it She's still producing so many good songs her lyrics are incredible.

Oh my gosh I can't but I just I just can't she's so good and I love her forever I want to talk about another song from folklore. It's called Alyssa affairs kind of scandalous stuff if you ask me But it is kind of a sad song. Oh my gosh. I love this song the bridge for the song goes and you want to scream Don't call me kid.

Don't call me baby. Look at this godforsaken mess that you made me You showed me colors. You know I can't see with anyone else. Don't call me kid Don't call me baby.

Look at this idiotic fool that you made me you taught me a secret language I can't speak with anyone else. Oh my gosh. I love Taylor Swift so much and like oh my gosh And like this is such a good song. This is such a good song and I love I love love love for lyrics And I will forever be obsessed with them.

No, I'm gonna do a couple of honorable mentions And I won't talk a lot about them because I could talk forever and ever about Taylor Swift But the bridges are just too good not to touch so I'll talk about two more songs the first one is champagne problems by Miss Taylor Swift is off of her ever more album. This bridge is so good. It's so good. Okay, so the lyrics to the bridge go Your mind is touched on the Chevy door November flush and your flannel cure.

This storm was once a mad house I made a joke. Well, it's made for me However green our group of friends don't think we'll say that word again and soon They'll have the nerve to deck the halls that we once walked through one for the money two for the show I never was ready. So I watched you go sometimes you just don't know the answer till someone's on their knees and asks you She would have made such a lovely bride what a shame she's messed in the head They said but you'll find the real thing instead. She'll patch up your tapestry that I shred this song is so sad But it's so good.

I said that about every single song of hers But it just is because she just is good like even if you don't like Taylor Swift you have to appreciate the fact that she's like an incredible writer The lyrics she writes are just crazy. They're crazy. They're so good. Okay.

The last song I want to play is off of her song Midnight's This is probably one of my favorite songs on Midnight's. It's so good and amazing and I love listening to it But yeah, it's called you're on your own kid and I love the bridge to this song because it inspired Something that it has taken the world back storm and I'll talk about that after I read the lyrics So the lyrics for the song is Not for this song the lyrics for this bridge is from sprinkler splashes to fireplace ashes I gave my blood sweat and tears for this I hosted parties and starved to my body like I'd be saved by the perfect kiss the jokes weren't funny I took the money my friends from home don't know what to say I looked around in a blood soap gown and I saw something they can't take away because there were pages turned what the bridge has burned Everything you lose is a step you take so make the friendship bracelets take the moment and taste it You've got no reason to be afraid. I love that bridge so much I love that bridge so before I read the bridge lyric I said that the bridge inspired something that has taken the world by storm and that is friendship bracelet So if you didn't know at the air store There was a thing where people would trade friendship bracelets and everyone would make friendship bracelets They'd beat up different different bracelets They'd have like Taylor Swift songs on them or like lyrics on them errands whenever you would go to a concert You would go and like meet people and you would like trade bracelets with them and it was so fun And this all started because of the song you're on your own kid and the lyric that says so make the friendship bracelets take the moment and taste it And so I One think it's so fun and adorable that we like the fan base started doing friendship bracelets and like trading them and everything And I also think it's incredible that like it like took off because it very well could just be like a like maybe 10 people see it Maybe like they like just do it because then it's just like a little inside joke that only certain people know about but like no Every single person knew about it and like all like the arms We're like when you were walking by people at the air store their arms were just filled with friendship bracelets and it was so fun and adorable and I love it So yeah, thank you so much for listening to this episode My name is Ellie.
