Bridging Gaps & All That (Ft. Mick)

from Somebody Do Something Hosted by Philly Shira

Can I talk my shit again?!! SDS is back and it's been a while, let's catch up! This season we're trying something new. We're trading interviews for conversations and exchanging structured information for current events. Listeners, expect some structural changes and new segments added to the show in upcoming months! Today's episode is a conversation generally about the black community and where we stand in America. Philly Shira spoke with her cousin, Mick, about value, gun violence, police brutality and we think of some potential solutions to some of our community/social issues surrounding these topics. He gives his perspective as a young teenager in Philadelphia. This is not an entirely lighthearted episode but it is extremely necessary. It's conducive to our healing and liberation as a community to have conversations about our trauma. Feels good to be back!
