Inspiration and Resilience Born From TragedyWith Special Guests, Close Friends Fritz Schafer and Michael WeismanON BRIDGING THE GAPHosted by David ColemanOn September 2nd, 2019, as America celebrated Labor Day Weekend, Fritz Schafer agonizingly lost his wife and the mother of his four children to a tragic and senseless accident at Hocking Hills State Park in Logan, Ohio. Victoria Schafer was joyously leading an experiential teaching expedition for six high school students who were excited to learn from her immense talent as a photographer. As they traversed the trails of the gorgeous turrain, a 70 pound log fell onto Victoria, killing her instantly. The log was pushed from over 30 feet above by two 16 year olds who allegedly could not see below, but could hear laughter and voices. The Schafer family’s lives we forever changed in the blink an eye. Fritz and his close high school friend, Mike Weisman, shared how Fritz and his family persevered and how he turned her loss into a drive and mission to qualify for and run in the Boston Marathon.
