Brigham City Council trained on roles in cyber security, requirements of Open and Public Meetings Act

Brigham City council members took part in required trainings during a work session held Wednesday, receiving instruction on cybersecurity awareness and the Utah Open and Public Meetings Act (OPMA). The first portion focused on cybersecurity awareness and common online threats that public agencies increasingly face, including phishing attempts, ransomware, malware and financial scams. The council was told employees and elected officials are often the first line of defense. The traning included the potential financial consequences of a data breach.
