Brilliance in the Fundamentals

The principles we talk about during this episode can be applied anywhere - to learning anything, to keeping a cool head when things go wrong, to being resilient, and to the importance of knowing the fundamentals.  Land navigation is a course everyone who goes through any Special Operations training must go through. Candidates are given a map, a compass, a protractor, and a 10-digit grid point that should bring them within 1 meter of the actual point they're supposed to find, under a specific time limit. Go do it.  This exercise tests the capacity to learn, independence, and resilience, and core understanding of the fundamentals. A place where the basics are crucial and essential - just like in life.
