Brittni Darras – Globally Recognized Teacher, TedX Speaker, Advocate for Suicide Prevention and Mental Health Awareness – 019

from Extraordinary Women Radio

I had the opportunity to see Brittni Darras speak at TedX MileHigh this summer, and after a room of 2500 people gave her a standing ovation, I knew I really wanted to have her and her inspiring story on Extraordinary Women Radio! Brittni is a high school English teacher who hand-wrote personalized cards to her 130 students following a student’s suicide attempt. Her story - which went viral - is heartfelt and inspiring and has spread kindness and positivity around the world. She tells us how kind words can make a difference in the lives of many. Brittni speaks my own love-language, as she talks about the importance of getting to know someone for who they truly are at a deep level - and then taking the time to really acknowledge all that is wonderful about that person back to that person. Brittni has created such a huge ripple effect student-by-student, but has also inspired others to create their own unique ways of spreading love. It's about lifting our whole society at a time when our world needs uplifting! She tells us why small gestures make a big impact! Her story has received worldwide attention and earned her the Aspen Pointe Hero of Mental Health Award and the Mayor’s Young Leader Award in the category of Innovation in Education. Brittni is an advocate for suicide prevention and mental health awareness. To learn more about Brittni's work visit her Facebook page.
