Broken Rod, Whole Heart

A broken rod tip can be repaired, but every angler knows the rod is never quite the same. Men often believe their hearts work the same way — that the divorce, the loss, the betrayal, the failure left them permanently downgraded. Functional, maybe. But never again what they were.Psalm 147 says otherwise. He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds. The God who counts the stars — the verse right after this one says He calls them each by name — stoops to bandage broken men. And His repairs are not patch jobs. Scripture's pattern is consistent: what God restores, He makes stronger at the broken places, like a bone that knits back thicker.Whatever broke you — however long ago, however deep — is not beyond His repair. Bring Him the pieces. He doesn't discard broken things; He binds them up, and He has a long history of doing His best work with men the world wrote off as damaged goods.Prayer:Lord, You know where I'm broken — the wounds I've carried so long they feel like part of me. I bring You the pieces today.Heal my broken heart. Bind up my wounds. And do what only You can do: make me stronger at the broken places. Amen.Challenge:Name your oldest wound — the break you've accepted as permanent.
