Brooklyn Bridge Standoff Ends in Tragedy | US News

A tense, hour-long standoff unfolded early Friday on the Brooklyn Bridge as NYPD officers tried to de-escalate a suicidal man armed with a knife and claiming to have a bomb. Trapped on the same cable, officers couldn’t retreat quickly as he advanced—leading one to fire a single shot that killed him. The incident, captured on bodycams, caused major traffic delays and marked the second fatal police shooting in NYC that week, echoing last Monday’s Times Square tragedy.
