Broward 10-13 Remembering 911 | Miami News

Retired NYPD officers from the Broward 10-13 group still gather ten times a year in Florida, honoring their bond forged 25 years ago—many were on 9/11, some off-duty but rushing in anyway. They remember the dust, the silence, and the haunting images like a flag in a tree near Ground Zero. The trauma’s toll is lifelong: cancers, losses, and ongoing struggles. More have died from Ground Zero illnesses than perished that day. Their meetings are sacred—places of memory, comfort, and unbreakable brotherhood. They refuse to forget, not as slogan, but as lived truth, paying tribute to a city’s resilience and their own enduring sacrifice.
