Broward Schools Face Closure Crisis | Miami News

Broward County is on the brink of closing up to ten schools amid a steep 11,000-student enrollment drop — a crisis fueled by soaring costs driving families out. Already shuttered six schools last year, officials say financial survival demands tough choices, even as parents rally against cuts that threaten vital programs and special needs students. Proposed closures include Dolphin Bay and Silver Lakes Elementary, with others merged into K-8 campuses. Community meetings are underway — but many parents feel rushed and unheard. A final decision looms in December, with more town halls scheduled through October to gather input before the vote.
