In this first Part (1), Bruce shares his experience growing up along with his siter as a bi-racial child and identifying as an African-American even though he was too white to often be accepted by whites and not black enough to be accepted by blacks, his college days at D3 Birmingham Southern and his time in the minors before being drafted and 3.5 years later being called up by the Oakland A's.
